It has some of the best views on the island, but there is no direct beach access. Guests can either walk down to the beach (one of the most pristine in Costa Rica and well worth the effort) or arrange a 5-minute drive. All-inclusive packages at Villa Sol cover unlimited meals and snacks at Bahia, a buffet restaurant serving local and international dishes, beer and spirits, and a full menu of handcrafted cocktails, plus fun daily indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. At night, head to the Wet Bar and dance under the stars.
Accommodations at Villa Sol include hotel rooms and large villas. The villas are gorgeous and feature some amazing views, but they are further away and located on a steep hill, so getting to and from there can be a challenge if you have mobility issues. However, they’re perfect for couples who are looking for a private, intimate escape.

Three homemade meals per day and snacks, coffee, and tea are included with your stay. Lunches can be packed and taken along for excursions and tours, while dinner is served buffet style in a large and airy candlelit dining room. However, Bosque del Cabo does not have an alcoholic drinks package, so if you want to drink it will cost extra.
Villa Buena Onda
Villa Buena Onda’s massive 10,000-square-foot property is home to just seven guestrooms, giving visitors plenty of space to enjoy each other’s company without the overwhelming crowds typical of larger all-inclusive resorts in Costa Rica.
The common areas feature modern sculptures and art and contemporary furniture. The semi-outdoor dining area consists of intimate tables spaced apart so couples can enjoy a romantic dinner in the fresh evening air. Overlooking the ocean there is a two-tiered infinity pool in the center of the courtyard with a swim-up bar, while the second floor terrace is a wide open space with room for lounging, yoga, or taking in a spa treatment.
The concierge can make arrangements for activities off-site and there is a daily free shuttle to Playa del Coco, the nearest beach. The resort grounds are quiet and geared toward couples who want to reconnect and relax, so there isn’t much activity going on throughout the day. However, the resort’s location makes for easy day trips to nearby beaches, towns, and parks.
Four of the resort’s rooms feature ocean views, while the remaining showcase the pool and garden. All feature an outdoor area, but the second floor ocean-view rooms offer the most space and privacy. The Master Suite also comes with a private jacuzzi.
Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort
Party-lovers will flock to Los Suenos Marriott because of its close proximity (15 minutes by car) to Jaco, a small beach town known for its laid-back party atmosphere. The resort grounds feature a massive 18-hole golf course, an intricate pool connected by bridges, a casino, and a 24-hour fitness center with free instructor-led classes.
Los Suenos sits on Playa Herradura. Its rocky shores are not exactly ideal for lounging, but the water is calm and the scenery is breathtaking. Couples looking for a white sand beach can drive 30 minutes to Playa Hermosa for surfing or check out Manuel Antonio National Park, a diverse ecosystem that can be reached in under an hour and is home to some of the country’s nicest beaches.
Spanish influence can be found throughout the resort, from the burnt-orange exterior to the Latin-esque floor tiles in each of the 200+ guestrooms. The Premium Deluxe Ocean View Room comes with a large furnished balcony and a comfy king-size bed.
Fiesta Resort
The name of this Costa Rica all-inclusive resort speaks for itself. With direct beach access, daily sports activities, weekly parties and nightly entertainment all included in the cost of your stay, this lively resort is great for anyone looking for a good time.
Apart from the resort and the beach, there isn’t much else to do nearby. The Fiesta Resort is best for guests who are looking to enjoy everything an all-inclusive resort has to offer with just a few day trips thrown in.
The grounds include 4 pools and whirlpools, 2 tennis courts, a beach soccer field and volleyball court, an indoor game room, and a minigolf course. Rooms are plain but comfortable. The honeymoon suites feature a view of the pool or garden and come with a private jacuzzi.
There are 4 bars spread out on the pool decks so a refreshing drink or snack is always within arm’s reach. Head to Calypso Restaurant for dinner and enjoy a huge and varied buffet or make a reservation at Macarela or Macondo for Latin-inspired dishes and fresh seafood.
Barcelo Tambor
Barcelo Tambor is set in a sparsely populated area of the Nicoya Peninsula. Rugged natural beauty surrounds the resort but there aren’t many attractions nearby. Nature lovers will feel at home here on the shoreline among the mountains, birds, and monkeys. For an easily accessible adventure, Tortuga Island can be reached in about 15 minutes via boat.
There are two a la carte restaurants, Miayako Japanese Restaurant and El Rancho Steakhouse. Both require reservations to be made in advance and previous reviews suggest that getting a table is somewhat challenging. Thankfully there is also El Tucan, a large dining room with a daily buffet spread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Apart from relaxing by the pool, there are plenty of sports available like archery, rock climbing, and watersports, and a large golf and country club is less than a mile from the resort. There are nightly shows in the resort’s massive amphitheater and a nightclub that stays open until 3 a.m.
