Our Tip Picks

There is no one answer to “which is the best Sandals in St. Lucia?” The answer depends on your preferences and what type of vacation you want to have. Do you want to plan a destination wedding in St. Lucia? Are you going to honeymoon there? Are you mainly looking for a beautiful beach or delicious cuisine? Do you dream of staying in an amazing suite, like an overwater bungalow or a cliffside villa? The answers to these questions will help you determine the best Sandals in St. Lucia for you.

Don’t stress too much about making this decision. Regardless of which Sandals in St. Lucia you choose, you will get to enjoy the amenities and restaurants of all three; free transfers between the resorts is included. This means you can access 3 beaches, 2 golf courses, 11 pools, 27 restaurants, and 21 bars on your St. Lucia vacation!

What Are the 3 Sandals in St. Lucia?

The three Sandals resorts in St. Lucia are Sandals Halcyon Beach, Sandals Regency La Toc, and Sandals Grande St. Lucian, all in the northern part of the island and close to plenty of activities and nightlife. Each resort is a luxurious, adults-only enclave set on a gorgeous beach, but there are some differences. Here is a brief overview of each Sandals resort in St. Lucia.

Sandals St. Lucia

Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is on Pigeon Island, which is home to St. Lucia’s top national park. It has the most dining options of the three Sandals locations. Something that truly sets it apart is that you can stay in overwater bungalows at Sandals Grande St. Lucian (see more details below, under What Is the Best Sandals in St. Lucia for Suites?). It has 5 pools and 4 whirlpools, including the 7800-square-foot waterfront Sunset Pool with a swim-up bar and the quiet, lagoon-style Lovers Pool.

It also has the most beautiful clear blue calm water along the beach and the pool area is always a fun time. Most people consider this the best Sandals resort in Saint Lucia.

We see Sandals Grande St Lucian as the best option for groups. The main pool and nearby beach area are fun during the day, while other pool areas further down the beach are better for romantic couples or anyone wanting a quiet time.

As mentioned you can visit other resorts while staying there, but very few people choose to take the 20-minute shutter to Sandals Halcyon Beach since Sandals Grande St Lucian offers so much.

We enjoyed relaxing in the calm walker, and since it is in a bay we were able to go jet skiing. This makes a big difference for more active guests and we highly recommend this resort if you want to try more water sports. The water sports team is excellent and want to make sure you have a good time.

Sandals Regency La Toc

Sandals Regency La Toc is in Castries, in a stunning setting built into a hillside. It features 3 pools and 4 whirlpools, including the largest pool in St. Lucia. It also has a 9-hole golf course with complimentary greens fees. (Also available to guests of the other two St. Lucia Sandals resorts.)

The beach at Regency La Toc is lovely but the water here can also get rough enough for red flags; when that happens you can take the free shuttle to the beach at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Sandals Regency La Toc is the Sandals resort that is closest to the Pitons if you want to explore that area.

If you like to golf, you can do so at Sandals Regency La Toc’s onsite golf course (temporarily closed), or you can play at the 18-hole championship course at the Sandals St. Lucia Golf Club, which is located near the Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Whichever St. Lucia Sandals you stay at, you get complimentary greens fees and transfers to the golf courses.

In my personal opinion, it is the best Sandals resort in Saint Lucia because of the fun beach, great food, and beautiful sunsets.

While some guests struggled to get in and out of the beach water on some days we were there, we loved the small waves at the beach and the drink service we received while we were there. Since the resort is so large you can choose the vibe you want by choosing the more relaxed sunset bluffs area or the lively main pool area.

The main con of Sandals Recency La Toc is that there is a hill to climb between the two main areas of the resort, however, there is a shuttle to take you back and forth.

Sandals Halcyon Beach

Sandals Halcyon Beach is described as a true Garden of Eden due to the lush, majestic islands, the pristine beach, the turquoise sea, and the majestic mountain view. Enjoy dining at one of six on-site restaurants, or one of the other 21 restaurants available to you at nearby Sandals resorts. Plus, if golf is your game, you’ll have complimentary transportation and green fees at both The Sandals La Toc Golf Club and Sandals St. Lucia Golf & Country Club at Cap Estate.

Pool at Sandals Halcyon surrounded by lounging chairs, umbrellas, and lush plants.

The Sandals Halcyon Beach is the quietest Sandals Resort in Saint Lucia. It makes it easier to make friends with other guests since you will recognize them at the pool.

The resort is about 20 minutes from Sandals Grande St Lucian and Sandals Regency La Toc, making it easy to spend some time at one of the other resorts.

More recently, multiple new suites were built including beachfront suites with private pools, rondoval villas, and suites along the Crystal Lagoon.

Sandals Halcyon is the cheapest Sandals Resort in Saint Lucia, making it a great choice for couples looking for a quiet getaway, earning great reviews for the resort. But while some people are looking for relaxation, many want something a little more active. Unfortunately, the beach isn’t as clear as others.

Which Sandals Resort in St. Lucia Is Closest to the Pitons?

What Is the Best Sandals in St. Lucia for Honeymoons?

You probably already know that Sandals Resorts are ideal for honeymoons. Beyond all the many things included in a Sandals stay, if you take your honeymoon trip within 30 days of your wedding date you get a complimentary honeymoon package. Regardless of which Sandals on St. Lucia you honeymoon at, you’ll receive a bottle of chilled sparkling wine, a special turndown service that includes flower petals on your bed the first evening of your honeymoon, and fresh flowers and a decadent breakfast in bed one morning of your choice.

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is our choice for the best honeymoon resort in St. Lucia. Not only can you stay in an incredible overwater bungalow (see more details below) but you also have the most variety available in dining and entertainment options here. This St. Lucia Sandals has the best beach as well, and the protected waters of Rodney Bay make it possible to go swimming or enjoy watersports at any time.

But if you’re looking for privacy and seclusion, you may want to choose Sandals Halcyon Beach as your best St. Lucia honeymoon resort. There are fewer rooms here, since it’s the smallest of the three resorts, which means not as many people around and a higher staff-to-guest ratio. Set amid lush tropical gardens, this is truly a romantic sanctuary with plenty of places to snuggle tucked away on the gorgeous grounds. A lovely honeymoon suite option here is the beautiful beachfront butler suite with private plunge pool.

And if you’re planning a destination wedding in St. Lucia, how about walking down a glass floor aisle in a stunning overwater chapel, surrounded by 360-degree views of the Caribbean? You can do just that at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, which is one of just four Sandals resorts that offer an Over-the-Water Wedding Chapel.

What Is the Best Sandals in St. Lucia for Beaches?

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is located on a private peninsula along a one-mile white sand beach with incredible views across Rodney Bay of mountains and historic Fort Rodney. These are the calmest waters on the island, so it’s perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding right off the beach. This makes Sandals Grande St. Lucian our pick for the best beach resort in St. Lucia.

Runner-up is Sandals Halcyon, which has a lovely pristine beach fringed by palm trees, perfect for lounging or leisurely strolls.

What Is the Best Sandals in St. Lucia for Foodies?

We vote for Sandals Grande St. Lucian as the best Sandals in St. Lucia for foodies. There are twelve restaurants available here, offering gourmet cuisine, fresh seafood, local flavors, Asian food, sushi, Italian, French crepes and pastries, and other international dishes.

Many restaurants at Sandals Grande St. Lucian have water views or are on the water; Barefoot by the Sea is exactly that, with tables on the sand, while Gordon’s on the Pier offers an elegant experience set out over the beautiful waters of Rodney Bay. Resort casual attire is requested at most restaurants.

You can also take advantage of room service or request private dining options like a candlelight dinner on the beach.

As usual at Sandals Resorts, your all-inclusive rate covers unlimited meals and snacks plus beverages including premium liquors and Robert Mondavi wines.

Whenever you feel like having a drink at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, you can choose from one of 6 bars, including a piano bar, a beach bar, and an authentic British pub. There are plenty of entertainment options here after dark, from live music to parties to theme nights.

Our second choice for best Sandals for foodies is Sandals Regency La Toc, where you can choose from 9 restaurants offering French cuisine, fine Italian, Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asian, sushi, and seafood. Many restaurants here have stunning water views from atop the bluff. There are 8 bars and plenty of evening entertainment, so the nightlife here is good as well.

What Is the Best Sandals in St. Lucia for Suites?

If you want to get as close to the water as you possibly can, then you’re going to want to stay in an Over-the-Water Bungalow. These unbelievable suites make Sandals Grande St. Lucian our pick for the best Sandals suites in St. Lucia. And really, these might be the best suites at any resort on the island—the Grande St. Lucian is not just the only Sandals resort offering these, it’s the only resort on St. Lucia with overwater bungalows.

We’ve mentioned these several times in this article; let’s give you all the details so you can see for yourself how amazing they are.

St Lucia Overwater Bungalow

Sandals Resorts opened the first Caribbean overwater bungalows (in Jamaica), so they have experience in creating these magical hideaways. Over-the-water bungalows are perfect for honeymoons or romantic retreats because they make you feel like you’re all alone in paradise.

Perched over sparkling waters of the most vivid blue and turquoise, the 9 Over-the-Water Honeymoon Butler Bungalows at Sandals Grande St. Lucian deliver a true luxury experience. Not only do you get gorgeous accommodations, but you also get your own private butler who will handle everything from unpacking to making dinner reservations and arranging activities to drawing a rose-petal-filled bath to restocking your (complimentary) top-shelf minibar.

Constructed of beautiful wood with thatched roofs, these honeymoon overwater bungalows in St. Lucia have hardwood floors with glass floor panels so you can see exotic marine life without even having to get in the water. However, should you want to get in the water, you can easily do so from a short ladder off your private extended sun deck.

On the deck, you’ll find a bistro set, comfortable lounge chairs, and a huge hammock suspended over the water for the ultimate in relaxation—not to mention the outdoor Tranquility Soaking Tub™ for two!

Inside, you’ll find vaulted ceilings, a ceiling fan plus air conditioning, a stocked refrigerator and minibar, a tea/coffeemaker, and smart TV. The beautiful bathroom features his and her sinks and a rain shower, and you’ll enjoy the Red Lane Spa Amenity Kit, plush robes, and slippers that are provided.

The comfy king-size bed comes with luxury linens and a pillow menu, and it’s positioned directly in front of glass doors to give you fantastic views the minute you wake up. These doors slide open to catch the breeze and provide easy access to the outdoors.

Other amazing suites at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian are the unique Beachfront Grande Rondoval Butler Suites with their own private patios featuring plunge pools, a jacuzzi, an outdoor shower, and a hammock, located just steps away from the sand.

The Sunset Oceanview Bluff Millionaire Butler Villas at Sandals Regency La Toc, however, make it a close second-best resort in St. Lucia for suites. Built-up high on a bluff (in the ritzy Sunset Bluff Village enclave), these totally private suites have 3-story sun decks with 180-degree views of the ocean and the island. They also feature a plunge pool directly off both the bedroom and the living room, which have glass walls that slide completely open.

Imagine watching the sunset while lounging in your pool or on the deck! That’s pretty darn romantic. By the way, the zero-entry pool has a waterfall and a separate whirlpool. You may never leave your villa!

If you’re traveling to St. Lucia on a budget but still want luxury, Sandals Halcyon Beach is known to have lower prices on butler-level suites than the other two resorts. Affordable doesn’t mean basic, though: check out the Beachfront Honeymoon Butler Suites with private plunge pools!

So what does “Butler Suite” mean at Sandals? It means that along with your luxurious suite, you get the service of a personal butler! They will greet you with a welcome drink, help you check in, unpack your luggage, and make all the reservations you need for dinner, activities, or spa treatments. Your butler can also bring you drinks or food on the beach or at the pool or serve a romantic candlelit dinner on your private deck, patio, or balcony.

What Is Included in a Stay at Sandals?

Your rate at any Sandals in St. Lucia will cover the same inclusions offered at all Sandals resorts: complimentary airport transfers; all dining and beverages including unlimited premium liquors and unlimited Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks wines; a stocked minibar in your room; a coffee maker with Jamaican Blue Mountain Blend coffee; water sports and equipment plus professional instruction; roundtrip shuttles to the other resorts; WiFi; daily and nightly entertainment; unlimited land sports; state-of-the-art fitness center; and all tips, taxes, and gratuities.
