If you’re looking to create the picture-perfect couples’ getaway in Negril, an adults-only all-inclusive resort is a great way to go. In this article we will compare two top adults-only all-inclusive luxury resorts in Negril, Couples Negril vs. Sandals Negril.

Location

When it comes to the location of these two resorts, you’ll find that there is not a huge amount of difference. Situated almost beside one another, Couples Negril and Sandals Negril are less than a 15-minute walk (or a two-minute car ride) apart.

Both are situated on the beach directly facing the sea, so no matter which resort you choose, you’ll enjoy sparkling views of the Caribbean.

It must be noted though that these two resorts are located quite far north of the main city of Negril; if you want to explore the city and won’t be renting a car, you may want to look at other options. That said, if you’re looking for an all-inclusive getaway where you spend most of your time within the resort, these are both excellent choices.

Accommodations

Both Sandals and Couples Resorts are well known for providing their guests with high levels of luxury. Sandals Negril features an elegant, timeless style, and guests can choose from a selection of different room types ranging from beachfront suites to penthouses. Something Sandals Negril does offer, though, that Couples Negril does not is swim-up suites.

Rooms and accommodations at Couples Negril are a little more modern in design. While still luxurious, they have a brighter interior. Choose from a variety of deluxe accommodations, from rooms with garden views to suites right on the beach.

Neither resort has overwater bungalows (for those, you’ll need to look at some of Sandals’ other properties), but if you’re looking for the most luxurious accommodations available, then one of Sandals Negril’s penthouse suites may be the best choice for you.

Beaches and Pools

Both of these resorts are situated beachfront and have a beautiful stretch of sand along crystal clear water. One main difference, however, is that Couples Negril also offers an au naturel beach for those who like to sunbathe in the nude.

While both resorts are on the same beach, Couples Negril is on a better stretch of beach in our opinion.

Another difference between Couples Negril and Sandals Negril is the pools. While Couples Negril does have a main pool and a dive pool, Sandals Negril really pulls out all the stops! In addition to four lovely pools dotted around the property, some accommodations at Sandals Negril also have private pools. 

If you’re looking to make a splash on vacation, you’ll be able to do this at either resort, but Sandals Negril may be the better choice for you.

Food and Drink

Both of these resorts are all-inclusive, so no matter which you choose, you’ll be able to feast to your heart’s content.

Couples Negril offers 6 unique restaurants, a cafe, and 6 bars (including a swim-up bar in the pool). You can enjoy a delicious poolside breakfast buffet at Cassava Terrace, enjoy Asian cuisine at Lychee, or for a truly authentic Caribbean experience, delight in the tastes of Jamaica at the Otaheite Restaurant.

You can also enjoy room service or a private candlelit dinner under the stars.

Sandals Negril boasts world-class gourmet dishes, so if you’re a foodie, then this resort may be the best choice for you. Each of the seven different restaurants is run by top chefs and offers a variety of authentic cuisines. There are also five bars to enjoy including two swim-up bars.

Private candlelit dinners can also be arranged at a Sandals resort, and room service is available here as well.

Entertainment and Activities

If you’re looking for an action-packed vacation, you’ll be pleased to know that both Couples Negril and Sandals Negril offer a wide range of activities and entertainment programs.

Couples Negril markets itself as a beachfront playground with every activity imaginable. From scuba to sailing, snorkeling to pool volleyball, there’s plenty to do in the water. For those who prefer activities on dry land, you can enjoy complimentary tennis, unlimited golf, and a fitness center. 

There are also wellness activities, excursions, and nightly entertainment options in addition to a treehouse spa. Uniquely at Couples, a few of the excursions are included.

Sandals Negril also offers a wide range of activities, from PADI certified scuba diving to a variety of watersports, land activities, and excursions. There’s also a luxurious spa. Plus, Sandals Negril has entertainment every night of the week from Caribbean beach parties to chocolate buffets.

Conclusion

Both Sandals Negril and Couples Negril are top quality adults-only resorts in Jamaica, committed to providing their guests with an outstanding experience. For this reason, it’s particularly difficult for us to choose a clear winner as they each have so many positives. It ultimately comes down to personal choice. 

There’s very little difference between the quality of service and onsite amenities, but we do have to say that Sandals is our clear winner in terms of the outstanding food. It also offers more luxurious room choices.
