Why Get a Sandals Wedding Package?

Planning a destination wedding can be overwhelming. It can take a ton of effort, especially if you don’t know the destination well. Using a local wedding coordinator helps, and starting with a wedding package helps even more. This cuts down on the number of decisions you have t make and gives you a great base plan that you can customize to make it perfect for you.

Sandals offers a wide variety of wedding packages so you can find the right one for your budget, size, and desired style.

How Much Does a Sandals Destination Wedding Cost?

The first thing you probably want to know is, are Sandals weddings really free? Yes, some of them are!

How does the free Sandals wedding work? If you stay at least 7 nights in a club or butler-level room at any Sandals resort! The Sweetheart Package can deliver a great wedding for nothing more than the cost of your room. It is good for up to 10 people and also gives you a 15% discount at the spa as well as credits toward photography and videography packages. Free ceremonies are limited to Monday through Thursday, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Of course, there are plenty of other wedding package choices and add-ons. You can spend as much or as little as you like on your destination wedding at Sandals. Theme wedding packages range from $1000 to $13,900 depending on how many people you have, and you can personalize them with all sorts of additional options. This makes a Sandals destination wedding much more affordable than most weddings at home! You can find a full Sandals wedding price list on their website.

Tip: None of the Sandals wedding packages include the mandatory government fees. These range from $95 in Jamaica to $325 for weddings in Barbados; your Sandals wedding planner will be able to tell you what the local fee is and how to pay it, as well as assist you with the necessary paperwork. (Good news—the islands where Sandals resorts are located don’t require any blood tests or medical exams to get married!)

Sandals Destination Wedding Locations

There are 17 Sandals resorts, all located on stunning Caribbean beaches: 1 in The Bahamas, 3 in St. Lucia, 2 in Barbados, 1 in Antigua, 1 in Grenada, 1 in Curacao, 1 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and 7 in Jamaica.

While each location offers similar amenities and activities, there are some differences, especially when it comes to wedding options.

Which Sandals resort is the best for a wedding?

It depends on what sort of wedding you want to have and what atmosphere you prefer. Every Sandals resort is different, although each one is luxurious, romantic, and set on a beautiful beach. Some are smaller and more quiet, while others are more lively and larger. Some are close to the U.S., such as Sandals Royal Bahamian, while others are in more exotic spots like Sandals Saint Vincent. It can help to talk to a certified Sandals travel specialist who has been to the different resorts to find the one that’s right for you. Or, check out our resort reviews on this site,

Plus, each resort offers different wedding venues. All feature beach weddings, but you can also choose rooftops, garden gazebos, and even overwater gazebos depending on the location.

Sandals Wedding Venues

Sandals resorts have a variety of venues to choose from:

  • Beachfront
  • Overwater Wedding Chapel
  • Overwater Wedding Gazebo
  • Oceanfront Gazebo
  • Garden Gazebo
  • Private Island
  • Sky Terrace rooftop
  • Resort Chapel
  • European Wedding Garden

Below are details about the wedding venues at the different Sandals resorts.

For the ultimate unique wedding experience, how about getting married on a secluded island? The private island at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica is a stunning setting for weddings. Just a short boat ride away from the resort, this beautiful spot has gorgeous white sand beaches and amazing amenities like a pool with a swim-up bar and a beautiful Asian-inspired restaurant. Daybeds shaded by thatched roofs are dotted along the beach. Imagine celebrating with your loved ones around a bonfire after the ceremony!

Do you want to walk down a glass floor aisle in a stunning overwater chapel, surrounded by 360-degree views of the Caribbean? Just four Sandals locations offer Over-the-Water Wedding Chapels: Sandals South Coast, Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Ochi in Jamaica, and Sandals Grande St. Lucian in St. Lucia.

Sandals also offer Over-the-Water Gazebos, at Sandals Royal Bahamian in The Bahamas, Sandals Royal Caribbean in Jamaica, and Sandals Grande St. Lucian in St. Lucia.

At Sandals Royal Barbados, you can get married on the Sky Terrace beside a rooftop pool, overlooking the sparkling turquoise sea.

Sandals Montego Bay offers the Intimate Resort Chapel, a secluded spot with a more traditional feel. A charming path through lush greenery and fountain pools leads to the white chapel, which features a vaulted ceiling, wooden pews, stained glass windows, and an elevated altar.

All Sandals Resorts except the Barbados location offer an open-air Oceanfront Gazebo overlooking the beautiful Caribbean.

Most Sandals locations offer a Garden Gazebo as well, which is tucked amid tropical gardens near the sea.

For a sophisticated setting, you can get married in the European Wedding Garden, featuring a white pergola surrounded by manicured lawns, beautiful blooms, and elegant water features. This is available at Sandals Ochi in Jamaica and Sandals Grande Antigua in Antigua.

And of course, at every Sandals location, you can get married on a pristine beach, with the ocean just steps away.

On the Sandals website, you can explore each of these locations in detail.

Do I Need a Travel Planner to Plan My Sandals Destination Wedding?

Once you choose a Sandals resort for your wedding, you’ll have a complimentary wedding planner to assist you in handling all the details of your wedding. However, before that, it can be helpful to have a travel agent help you figure out which Sandals is best for you.

A Preferred Sandals Specialist is a travel advisor who specializes in booking travel to Sandals locations and is recognized as an expert. They go through an extensive education program about Sandals Resorts and keep up to date on the latest information.

Often, they’ve been to all the resorts personally so they can give you a ton of details that you won’t find just by looking at the website (like whether there are renovations happening at the property).

You’ll want to find a travel consultant who is a Sandals Weddings Specialist. They know everything about the various wedding and honeymoon packages available and can match you with the best options and resorts for what you want.

Sandals travel agents can save you money, above and beyond the usual discounts you find online. They’re able to get the lowest price, and they know which upgrades are worth your money and which aren’t. Also, they have access to extra options. And since they book so much travel with Sandals Resorts, they can make sure that special requests are taken care of.

Plus, they can help during your trip if any problems come up. They usually monitor the area for weather issues or other factors that can impact you on your Sandals vacation, and can easily reschedule flights or make itinerary changes if you need it.

How long do you need to be on the island before your wedding?

Different Caribbean islands have different “residency requirements” for how long you need to have been there before you get married. These tend to range from 48 to 72 hours, but it’s a good idea to doublecheck it with your Sandals wedding coordinator so you make sure to arrive plenty of time in advance! Also, be aware that flight delays are common, so don’t book your arrival flight too close to that window.

What people say about us

We worked with Mike to plan our perfect honeymoon in Greece — he was amazing the whole way through and put together a trip we will cherish for our lifetime.

He was thoughtful with our suggestions, and provided some of his own without every pushing us. He stayed within our budgetary means but made it feel like we had a budget twice the size.

Alex

Dan and Michelle were such a joy to work with! They really made our trip and cruise successful. Based on our needs they were able to help us identify and schedule what side trips and activities would best suit our interests.

After this trip I will be using a travel agent for future vacations…just can’t wait for the next one they help us plan!

Elizabeth

Honeymoon Always has been fantastic- our trips were 1000% better because of their help. The first time we used them we wanted to have a fun trip with some cultural experiences, good food, not too packed, and for a good price. It was fantastic and now we've used them for several trips in Europe, Central America, and the Caribbean. Each trip was so different but they were able to make each one special and unique to our needs.
