Sandals Grenada: Our Honest Review (We loved it!)

Sandals Grenada is one of the most impressive Sandals resorts and the perfect place for a spectacular honeymoon or romantic getaway.

We visited Sandals Grenada in March of 2023 and wanted to share with you our experience. But in case you are in a hurry, just know that we think Sandals Grenada is tied as the best Sandals Resort in our opinion.

Overview of Sandals Grenada

Sandals Grenada is an adults-only all-inclusive resort located on the southwestern side of the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada. It is a perfect honeymoon destination if you want to relax on your trip but have the option of adding in plenty of activities. Nestled against lush green hills in the heart of Grenada’s exclusive Pink Gin Beach, it is an incredibly romantic Caribbean retreat.

Sandals Grenada Deals

Sandals has regular discounts on some rooms and resorts. It is best to check their website before booking or to work with a travel agent who can find you the best deal for you. I have seen great last-minute deals and they have an ongoing 777 deals that change each week.

Arriving at Sandals Grenada

One of the many benefits of Sandals Grenada is that it is just 5 minutes from the airport. After arriving at the airport we were through the immigration from the time we arrived so you can start your vacation in paradise quickly. When we arrived at the airport there was a shuttle driver waiting for us to take us to the resort.

Sandals Grenada Rooms and Suites

When choosing the most romantic accommodations for your honeymoon or couples’ escape, you really can’t go wrong with any room at Sandals Grenada.

Sandals Grenada has 250 luxurious rooms in several different areas called “villages,” including the Lovers’ Hideaway Village. You can find a variety of room styles and prices. We stayed in a swim-up room that included butler service, but there are also dozens of rooms with private pools that are highly sought after.

Sandals Grenada features Skypool Suites with private infinity-edge plunge pools. They also have a living room, spacious bedroom, dining table, and bathroom with clawfoot tub, as well as an oversized balcony with seating and a Tranquility Soaking Tub™ for two. This amazing honeymoon suite comes with personalized butler service.

Sandals’ unique Rondoval Suites are available at Sandals Grenada as well. These are beautiful round villas with vaulted ceilings and a private, walled-in outdoor space with a patio, plunge pool, and waterfall whirlpool. The bathroom here has a round stone soaking tub.

Even with over 200 rooms, we did not feel like the resort was crowded. People generally spread out across the property, and there was no shortage of beach chairs to relax in.

Food and Drink at Sandals Grenada

There are 10 restaurants at Sandals Grenada to choose from, including French haute cuisine and a world-class steakhouse. You can also savor Mediterranean, fresh seafood, Asian, sushi, Caribbean, Italian, and Parisian-style pastries and crepes.

*The photos below are not a good representation of the food. We didn’t take good photos of the beautifully plated food. Just know we loved the food!

We went to Spices for breakfast every day. They have a breakfast buffet and a short-order cook who would make us pancakes, french toast or eggs any way we wanted them.

For lunch, we usually chose between going back to Spices where there was a lunch buffet each day with different themes, the pizza place, or Neptunes which has a good variety. Our choice was usually the quesadillas or jerk chicken.

There are 6 bars at Sandal Grenada, including a swim-up bar and a British pub that is the best option for late-night meals.

Not the best photo, but that steak was perfectly cooked and delicious!

Here are some of our favorite dishes:

Tipsy Turtle – Chicken Wings & Butter Chicken

Soy – All the appetizers are good. I love the Caribbean Dynamite, Seared Tuna Tataki, the Rainbow roll, and most of all the Banana Tempura dessert

Butch’s Steak House – Wagyu Boston Cut Strip loin

Cucina Romana – Ossobuco alla Ciociara

We also stopped by the Cafe do Paris several times a day. You can get customized coffee drinks here, ice cream, crepes and pastries.

As at every Sandals resort, all of your meals, snacks, and beverages are included in your stay, so you can feast to your heart’s content!

Sandals Grenada Beach & Pools

We have visited every Sandals Resort and this pool was my favorite. The water is protected by rocks but still would have some waves come in every few minutes. You can snorkel and see some cool fish very close to the shore as well.

As someone who loves to swim, the enclosed area made it perfect for me to swim to my heart’s content.

There were also beach chairs available all the time, so no need to stress about them all being taken.

Just a few yards from the beach is the quiet pool for people trying to relax. It has the added benefit of being close to Neptunes, perfect for lunch and a bar.

The Fun pool in the morning before people started showing up

On the other side of the resort is the other pool which has entertainment going on during the day and a swim-up bar.

We also enjoyed time at the pool at our swim-up suite during our stay.

Sandals Grenada Things to Do

You won’t run out of things to do at Sandals Grenada during your stay. Relax on the gorgeous 2-mile stretch of soft white sand and gaze out at the crystal clear water.

Get into or on that water with a variety of complimentary water sports including snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, scuba diving, windsurfing, and Hobie Cat sailing. For an extra fee, you can even try SNUBA, a combination of snorkeling and scuba diving.

I went scuba diving here and the team was very accommodating. This is also where I saw my first shark in the water. It was a sleeping nurse shark tucked away in some coral and was very cool to see.

If you want to stay on land, you can play beach volleyball, pool, bocce ball, shuffleboard, table tennis, and day or night tennis, or work out at the state-of-the-art fitness center.

Daily and nightly entertainment includes theme nights, talent nights, beach parties, and live music.

While we were in Grenada we went for a tour of the Island that took us to the capital city of St. George, a waterfall, a spice nursery, and into the jungle to see the mona monkey of Grenada.

What to pack for Sandals Grenada

You can pack light when you stay at a Sandals Resort since so much is provided for you. For example, you don’t need to pack a hairdryer. A gift shop is available onsite in case you forget any necessities.

In terms of clothes, the dress code is casual during the day and resort elegant at night, which means a mix of shorts, t-shirts and tanks, lightweight short sleeve shirts, sundresses, casual slacks, and swimsuits, plus dressier outfits (including shoes) for dining in the nicer restaurants. If you’re planning on golfing, make sure to bring the appropriate clothing. Women may want to bring a scarf, shawl, or light jacket in case they get chilly in air-conditioned places.

Bring several swimsuits since you’ll likely be wearing one every day. Women can bring a cute cover-up to throw on for walking around the resort, and may also want to pack some shorts to pull on over their swimsuit if doing any watersports. A rash guard will come in handy during watersports as well.

The type of shoes you bring will depend on what activities you want to do while in Grenada. You will probably want to bring water shoes, flip-flops, and sandals; you may want to add tennis shoes if you’re going to do a lot of walking or playing sports.

You will, of course, need to bring your passport (make sure it’s more than 6 months away from expiring) and ID, including a valid driver’s license if you want to rent a car. (But remember that they drive on the left in Grenada!)

You will also want to bring a credit card (not that you’ll need it in the resort, since everything is covered, but in case you want to add extras like spa services or go exploring in Grenada) and some cash as well, for tips at the airport, taxis, and local shops that don’t take credit cards. You may need to pay a departure tax in cash at the airport if it’s not included in your plane ticket, so be sure to ask in advance.

Tip: Bring two cards and hide one in a safe place for emergency backup. Also, make sure you have a record of your credit card numbers, as well as the customer service contact information.

As with any trip, make sure you pack any medicine that you need. Put it in your carry-on bag so you don’t have to worry about your luggage getting lost. In addition to any prescription medication, you can bring over-the-counter drugs (like aspirin, ibuprofen, stomach remedies, seasickness medicine, and antihistamines) so you’ll have them on hand if you need them. But in case you forget, these types of remedies will be available at the gift shop.

Tip: Keep all prescription medications in the original bottles when flying to avoid any issues.

Pack all the usual beach necessities including a bag to carry everything in (choose one that can get wet and sandy). These include sunglasses, sun hats, and sunscreen—the higher the SPF, the better when you’re in the Caribbean! If you’re going to be diving or snorkeling, make sure your sunscreen is reef-safe. You won’t need to pack beach towels, however, as these are provided for free at every Sandals Resort.

You may also want to bring a camera—especially a waterproof camera if you plan on watersports; a waterproof case for your phone, and your phone charger. You’ll want a travel adapter plug as well since the voltage in Grenada is different than in the U.S. (although there may be standard outlets in your room).

A few more items to consider: insect repellant and bite relief cream, bandaids, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic ointment, prescription snorkeling goggles if you wear them, a backpack for day trips, and a waterproof bag if you’re going to go on a boat.

However, you don’t need to pack toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion unless you want to—these items are included in your room at Sandals Grenada, and they come from the onsite spa so they’re top quality!

Tip: Make sure all your luggage is labeled clearly with tags, and add something bright like a colorful ribbon to make your bags stand out at baggage claim.
