Likuliku Lagoon Resort is an idyllic adults-only all-inclusive luxury resort that not only boasts the first overwater bungalows in Fiji, but also spectacular views, beautiful beaches, friendly staff, and an authentic Fijian design and ambiance. This makes it a popular choice for high-end romantic getaways and honeymoons in Fiji.

In this article we’ll cover everything about Likuliku Lagoon Resort Fiji, including what the Likuliku Lagoon reviews say, to help you decide if this is the perfect spot for you.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort-1

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Fiji Overview

Nested along the beach in a secluded part of Malolo Island, Fiji, Likuliku Lagoon Resort is a tranquil adults-only luxury retreat that combines natural beauty with a wide range of amenities. The serene atmosphere allows guests to relax and unwind, enjoying taking a walk along the breathtaking beach, lounging by the pool, or indulging in a rejuvenating spa treatment.

This resort is quite exclusive and at one time had the pride of boasting the only overwater bungalows (called “bures” here) in Fiji. In addition to gorgeous accommodations in the traditional style, Likuliku also features a pool, a fitness center, a spa, one restaurant, and two bars. Everything is within easy walking distance.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort isn’t short on activities, with a wide variety including watersports, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, surfing, hiking, taking a trip to an indigenous village, and experiencing Fijian Crested Iguanas up close and personal at the sanctuary.

With a 4.6 star rating on Google, Likuliku Lagoon Resort reviews are almost all 5-star, and are incredibly positive. Guests particularly like the indulgent multi-course lunch and dinners, the incredibly scenic location, and the huge array of activities on offer. However, some guests complained that service could be hit or miss, and said that while staff members were mostly very friendly, they could benefit from more training. Additionally, multiple reviews mentioned having difficulty with email communications with the resort.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Location

Likuliku Lagoon Resort is located on Malolo Island, which is about 16 miles away from Fiji’s Nadi International Airport. It is accessible by seaplane, helicopter, catamaran, or speed boat water taxi. International guests will likely arrive first at Nadi International Airport before making their way to Malolo Island. Some Likuliku Lagoon Resort reviews recommended taking the helicopter or water taxi service, as opposed to the catamaran, for the best experience.

The resort is set along the pristine Likuliku Lagoon, which is an ecologically valuable and culturally significant area.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Rooms & Suites

Likuliku Lagoon Resort offers three types of rooms and suites in the form of bungalows, which are called “bures” in Fiji. Some sit over the water and others sit along the beachfront. All accommodations here are just steps from the stunning sands.

Here we take a closer look at these options, to see which is the perfect one for you.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Over-Water Bures

The over-water bures at Likuliku Lagoon Resort are the first of their kind in Fiji, and as it stands today, are the only authentic over-water bures in the country. They’re very exclusive, with only 10 being available for guests to reserve.

Situated on the edge of the vibrant reef in a natural, pristine lagoon and protected marine sanctuary, these bures feature traditional architecture and natural elements unique to the region. Furnishings and decor are both elegant and stylish, with detailed woodwork, “magi magi” designs, and rich fabrics.

Each over-water bure comes with both a relaxing deck and a separate bathing pavilion, where guests can enjoy lagoon views from their grand bathtub. The resort chef produces complimentary daily canapé plates for guests to enjoy from the comfort of their accommodation.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Deluxe Beachfront Bures

There are eighteen deluxe bures situated on the beach. Each comes with its own personal plunge pool and a private daybed, alongside an outdoor shower in a secluded courtyard surrounded by lush gardens.

The split-level design of the bures allows guests to enjoy spectacular views over the lagoon, and the bungalow includes gorgeous traditional designs, natural materials, and unique, stylish furniture and decor which reflect the beauty and history of the South Pacific.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Beachfront Bures

Located only a few steps from both the beach and the crystal clear lagoon, the Beachfront Bures offer a secluded haven of relaxation and privacy.

The resort has 17 of the standard beachfront bures, but just because they’re not the deluxe ones, doesn’t mean they don’t scream luxury! These bures feature a personal daybed, outdoor shower with a secluded courtyard, a spacious deck, and traditional Fijian interiors and beautiful views of the lagoon.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Food & Drink

Fijiana

You may be surprised to find that Likuliku Lagoon offers only one restaurant. However, it’s fabulous.

Fijiana has been designed with couples in mind, with four distinct intimate areas that merge together creating a unique yet traditional Fijian atmosphere. With stunning views from every angle and an al fresco dining terrace, Fijiana has a relaxed and stylish dining experience.

The cuisine is fresh and creative, showcasing the finest local offerings including seafood, lush tropical fruits, and premium products and celebrating the diversity of cultures that have shaped the South Pacific. Many Likuliku Lagoon Resort reviews rave about the quality of the food and the variety of dishes offered.

As this resort is all-inclusive, guests can enjoy full breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, as well as filter coffee, tea, and island water. Alcohol, soft drinks, bottled water, and espresso coffees come at an extra cost.

If there’s something in particular you’re craving, then you’re welcome to make requests for special dishes or simple and classic favorites. Just let the resort know in advance and they can ensure it’s prepared for when you’re wanting to enjoy it. For guests with specific dietary requirements, personalized menu planning is available.

Private Dining

In addition to the on-site restaurant, it is also possible for guests to enjoy private dining at gorgeous intimate venues. The resort has two outdoor beachside decks below the restaurant terrace, where guests can dine under the stars with great views of Likuliku Lagoon.

If you wish to enjoy this exclusive dining experience, it must be booked on arrival at the resort.

Private romantic picnics are also available on a nearby private island owned by the resort. These picnic lunches are truly something special, with themed menus that capture the essence of the magical environments surrounding Likuliku Lagoon and its neighboring islands. With Fijian, Pacific Rim, and seafood menus available, there is a range to cater to any palate.

There’s also a private dining room for special occasions and small group gatherings, which can serve up to 20 guests. It’s an ideal venue for weddings, cocktail parties, and small meetings and features a spacious wrap-around outdoor terrace with exceptional views of the lagoon. For further information on booking this venue, you’ll need to contact the resort’s events coordinator.

Bars

There are two bars at Likuliku Lagoon Resort, both equally popular.

Set on an island in the central lagoon, Masima Bar is open daily and serves a variety of drinks including a variety of Fiji-inspired cocktails, premium beers, wines, and spirits. This bar is a beautiful relaxing sanctuary with a refreshing ocean breeze, surrounded by the azure waters of Likuliku Lagoon.

Guests can enjoy cozy evenings around the fire pit at sunset and pick from a selection of classic bar snacks, available daily.

The resort’s other bar, Dua Tale Bar, is located in the central complex and is the signature cocktail and wine lounge, making it an ideal spot for pre-dinner drinks or for guests to relax out of the hot sun.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Beach

Likuliku Lagoon is spread along a stunning stretch of beach on Malolo Island. With gorgeous white sands, guests can enjoy lounging on the beach or take a relaxing stroll along the oceanfront.

With the accommodations on the beachfront or just steps away, it’s very convenient for guests who love to enjoy a day relaxing on the beach.

There’s also a beautiful beach on Moicu (also known as Honeymoon Island),  the resort’s private island that is 15 minutes away by boat. Guests can access the island on private picnics (which must be requested on arrival), or on “invite only” snorkeling excursions or early morning hikes to watch the sunrise.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Pools

Likuliku Lagoon Resort’s infinity pool offers amazing views of the lagoon and plenty of spaces dotted around for guests to relax.

Guests staying in the Deluxe Beachfront Bures can experience their own little slice of paradise, with a private plunge pool at their accommodation.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Activities & Entertainment

Likuliku Lagoon Resort boasts a great variety of activities and entertainment for guests.

From restorative treatments at the Tatadra Spa to a wide range of equipment at the onsite beachfront fitness center, you can both work out and relax at these great facilities.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort also offers complimentary non-motorized watersports such as stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, surfing, and windsurfing, as well as complimentary snorkeling equipment to use when exploring the surrounding coral reef and marine life that inhabits it.

There are also land and sea tours available in and around the surrounding Mamanuca Islands. One of these is a fishing tour; since fishing is strictly forbidden in the marine reserve, guests must venture a little further out if they’re hoping for a tropical fishing experience on vacation. Guests can also enjoy a trip to an indigenous village, go island hopping at daybreak, or enjoy a sunset cruise.

Walking and hiking tours are also popular, with several walking trails of various lengths and difficulties leading from the resort. Some of the most notable walks include Jona’s Lookout, with magnificent views over the resort and island waters, and the Ridge Track to Naroba Point, where the highlight is the trek to the top of Malolo Island, Mt Uluisilo, the site of an old WWII American fort.

Guests can also enjoy an iguana experience, featuring a history and biodiversity presentation, followed by a tour of the resort’s Iguana sanctuary, breeding cages, and dry forest habitat.

When looking for something to do in the evening, guests can enjoy traditional Meke dancing, performed by staff members on Friday nights. These performances are a traditional form of storytelling through dance and song. This is followed by dinner of the traditional Lovo (earth oven feast) and South Pacific BBQ, which offers a vibrant evening full of fun and culture.

The activities team hosts a traditional Kava ceremony at Masima Bar frequently. During the ceremony, guests can learn about the origins of Kava, the plant and its attributes, and the protocols surrounding the ceremony itself, as well as try the famous traditional drink.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort: What’s Included?

Although Likuliku Lagoon Resort is all-inclusive, it must be noted that drinks are not included here. Your rate covers accommodations, all meals, and access to the facilities and activities. Some activities will cost extra, so it’s worth inquiring with your travel agent or the hotel directly before booking.
