I learned that travel agents really do have access to great deals and can really help you make the most of your trip. If you would like my help let me know.

Save yourself time and energy (that could be better spent making your special day perfect), and source out your honeymoon planning to a travel agent. There are great benefits of working with a travel agent, even for the most travel-savvy folks.

Already have elaborate plans for your honeymoon? A travel agent can make them happen for you. Can’t decide on the perfect destination? A travel agent can take the stress out of the decision making and help you choose the ideal place for you and your sweetheart to celebrate your “I dos”!

5 Reasons to Work With A Honeymoon Travel Agent

#1. A travel agent will save you time

Not only will your travel agent do all of your booking (for accommodations, transportation, and everything else you might need in advance), they can alleviate the stress that comes with planning a trip to a new location. Instead of spending hours upon hours researching great honeymoon spots, why not go directly to an expert?

Think of all of the other things you can do with the time you will save! I mean, you are already planning a wedding, so you have enough on your plate. Let someone else do the heavy lifting on the trip planning. Another great perk- most travel agents can coordinate virtually (read: you might not even need to get out of your pajamas).

#2. A travel agent will save you money

Thinking that travel agents are an extra expense is actually a myth! Booking a travel agent is a great way to make sure you are getting the best deals on all of your arrangements (flight, hotel, excursions, etc.).

Agents have access to insider discounts, and in many cases, they can get better deals for you than even the most discounted travel websites.  You might need to pay a deposit, but that should go toward your total cost when you book. Another thing to keep in mind is that your agent will have your back, so if the resort they have reserved goes on sale (for example) they will be notified and can match the sale price.

You might find a killer deal online, but just because a deal looks cheaper at first glance doesn’t actually mean that it will be the best value. A travel agent will make sure there aren’t surprise costs which could end up putting you over budget.

#3. You will benefit from a travel agent’s expertise

Your honeymoon is one of the most memorable trips that you will take in your life, so trust in a professional that has planned many trips to all destinations to know all the best information about where to stay, what do to, and everything in between.

Your agent will have access to amazing resorts, and activities that are unknown to most, so don’t miss out! Travel agents will also be able to help you out with passport and visa questions and will let you know if there is any important information that is pertinent to specific destinations.

#4. A travel agent has access to awesome upgrades

It’s all about who you know, right? Well, your agent knows the right people. They have established relationships with resorts and airlines, which means you will be treated better. Travel agents have access to extra perks and deals.

Beyond the general money savings they can offer, a travel agent can boost your honeymoon experience by giving you access to some awesome upgrades! You might be able to get upgraded seats on your flights (who doesn’t want more leg room?) or maybe an upgraded room (think: oceanfront views, Jacuzzis, in-room massages) and still stay within your budget. Treat yourself, and let your agent work their magic.

# 5. When something goes wrong, you will have an advocate

Even the best-planned trips can have unexpected hiccups. When things go wrong, you will be so glad to have someone who knows you and your trip that can help troubleshoot problems. They will have your back, and they can also prevent unforeseen issues since they have a greater knowledge of the areas they book. There is great peace of mind while traveling knowing that you have a point-of-contact that you can contact in case of disaster!

Convinced?  Let’s talk about choosing the right travel agent, and what you should already know before contacting an agent.

What should you already know before contacting an agent?

Before you contact an agent, it is a good idea to have a solid idea of your budget, how long you would like your honeymoon to be, the dates you have planned for your honeymoon, and any other important things that you really want out of your honeymoon. Think about your “must-haves” and your “deal breakers”. Then start searching for your agent!

How to choose the perfect Travel agent?

If you have no idea where to start, check out The American Society of Travel Agents at (800-965-2782 or ASTAnet.com) for listings of member agencies in good standing near you. Another organization to check out is The Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA.com) for agents who are Certified Travel Consultants (CTC), which means they’ve completed a certification course and been in business at least five years.

Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions before putting down a deposit! Think along these lines:

What destinations work well with my/our specific interests?

What is the best time of year to travel to this destination?

What excursions and/or activities do you suggest?

What is the area of your agency’s expertise?

Have you been there before?

How much do you charge?

How/when can I reach you when on my trip in case of emergency?

Are you willing to be available after business hours if necessary?

Your agent should be able to offer you immediate advice about your destination and present you with options that will make for a smooth-sailing trip.

Who Should Not Use A Honeymoon Travel Agent?

Travel agents can help most people, but some people are better off planning their own.  I personally planned my own honeymoon before I was a travel agent.  That is because I love planning and researching travel.  I spend hours looking at reviews, watching flight prices and piecing together our itinerary. If you are the type of person that is somewhat of a control freak and wants to plan every detail, you may not need a travel agent.

The other person who may not need a travel agent is someone who already has accommodations figured out.  Do you already have a timeshare to stay at? Do you have a bunch of credit card points that you want to use? A travel agent may not be able to book with them. (If it is an Amex we can help)

If you do need help planning we are happy to help.
