Best Time to Visit Key West
There’s never a bad time to plan your honeymoon to Key West. The town has long been a snow bird’s paradise, but winter crowds usually dwindle between May and March. During this time, the temperatures remain warm enough for couples to enjoy the water and all the island has to offer. If you’re looking for quiet seclusion, this is the ideal time of year to visit.
The summer brings rain and humidity to the island. July is usually a bit dryer than June or August, but rainy seasons can vary. Hotel rates are the best of the entire year, perfect for couples on a budget.
The fall also offers reasonable room rates, but hurricane season is a consideration. If you’re planning a getaway during the winter months, plan on experiencing the local hotels’ highest rates. The weather is generally mild and dry, which can be an excellent tradeoff.
Arriving in Key West
Key West features its own international airport, offering direct flights to several major US airports, including Miami, Atlanta, Fort Myers, Chicago O’Hare, and Charlotte.
If you’re looking to spend some quiet one on one travel time, consider making the scenic drive through the Florida Keys. The trip spans about 110 miles from Miami to Key West, taking you alongside some of Florida’s best scenery and offering plenty of places to explore and sightsee throughout the drive.
