Our Flytographer Experience

We had been looking forward to a trip to Santorini for years and it was finally happening. We knew that for once, we wanted to make sure we had photos to help us remember the trip.

We went to Flytographer and searched. From there we looked on the website for availability and choose the photographer, location, and time.

One great thing is you can review other photos from the photographers to make sure they have the style you are looking for.

The photographer quickly confirmed and sent us a meeting location.

On the day of the photo shoot, we met up with Stathis. He asked us a few questions about what we were looking for and he started taking us to different locations in the town we arrived in.

The entire shoot felt very natural and it was clear Stathis was focused on not only capturing the destination, but the connection we have with each other.

After a 1-hour photo session, we sat at a cafe since we were the last client of the day to chat and grab a cup of coffee.

Within a few days, the edited photos arrived in our inbox which you see throughout this post.

We were so happy to have such great photos from our vacation to remember it by for years to come!

It’s up to you whether you want to tip your photographer, but tips are not expected. According to the Flytographer website FAQ, some people have so much fun with their photographer that they go out for drinks or a meal afterward!

How does Flytographer work?

To get started, just visit the Flytographer website and select your destination. You’ll see local photographers to choose from, and you can view their portfolios and read reviews. Then choose which photographer you want to work with.

Next, you submit an inquiry to check their availability for the day that works for you. Your “shoot concierge” will let you know, and will help you choose another photographer if they aren’t available.

Once you’ve set the photographer and the date, you can discuss which locations you’ll shoot at, plus what times would be best for optimal lighting (your photographer will have great suggestions, since they live where you’ll be visiting). After that, all you have to do is meet your vacation photographer at the agreed-upon spot and enjoy a fun photo shoot.

Once your shoot is over, the photographer will choose the best shots and edit them for color balance and cropping. You’ll receive your vacation photos via email link within 5 business days of your session. The link will lead you to a private online photo gallery that you can choose to share.

You can also download files from there and then order prints or share them with friends and family. The downloadable files are in JPEG format and are high resolution (3300 x 2200 pixels). The

How far in advance should you book a Flytographer?

At least a week in advance is requested, although the company will attempt to accommodate last-minute situations. The best advance notice is 4 weeks out from the date you’re looking at. This will help make sure you get the day and time you want.

It also really depends on how popular your destination is.

How did Flytographer start?

The idea for Flytographer came to founder Nicole Smith when she visited Paris with two best friends in 2011 and wanted just one good photograph that would capture them and the beauty of the city. She launched it in 2013 as a side hustle.

Flytographer has now hired more than 600 photographers in 350 destinations on 6 continents and has captured more than 4 million memories for travelers.
